As ACTRA’s National Executive Director and Chief Negotiator, Marie Kelly demands fairness, respect, and the safety of ACTRA’s 30,000 members across Canada. Marie’s mission is to improve the working lives of performers by setting high standards for collective bargaining. She strategically leads the charge for public policies that ensure Canada’s screen industry continues to flourish and deliver world-class screen entertainment. Her role as Vice-President of the International Federation of Actors (FIA) Executive Committee brings ACTRA’s voice to the world stage.

A dedicated advocate for equity, inclusion and social justice, Marie is a veteran lawyer with a long history of advocating for workers’ rights within Canada’s labour movement. She joined ACTRA in 2019 after leading the Ontario Nurses’ Association (ONA) as its Chief Executive Officer and Chief Administrative Officer. Prior to ONA, Marie worked for the United Steelworkers where over the course of 22 years she served in various capacities starting out as legal counsel, and becoming the first woman in North America to be appointed to the position of Assistant Director.
