ACTRA has been bargaining for a new Independent Production Agreement (IPA). With so many major challenges facing our industry, negotiations with the Canadian Media Producers Association (CMPA) and the Association québécoise de la production médiatique (AQPM) have been especially critical this time around.

We have now reached a Tentative Agreement on a new IPA and ACTRA members will be asked to review and ratify in early 2025, when details of the agreement will be made public. Please see the notice below from ACTRA National President Eleanor Noble and ACTRA National Executive Director and Chief Negotiator Marie Kelly for more details.

Have you ever wondered what the ACTRA IPA looks like? Why not take a look at the 2022-2024 IPA to see just how important and intricate this agreement is? You can also go back through our IPA archives to see how this agreement has evolved over the decades.

Artificial intelligence (AI) poses the biggest generational threat to members’ livelihoods and will play a major part in these IPA negotiations. ACTRA is all too aware of AI’s impact on our industry and has lobbied the federal government aggressively to enact legislation to protect performers. Learn more on the issue by reading the AI Submission that ACTRA made last year when the government prepared to introduce the Artificial Intelligence and Data Act (AIDA).
